![]() If it hadn't been for the great scenery, it would have been pretty disappointing considering the prices we paid. I just dropped a bunch of cash at my son's favorite skate shop so I wasn't in the mood to spend that much for a mediocre meal. Beyond that, I don't think I could ever be swayed to eat there again, if only because of the cost. ![]() So, to sum up, since it was a special event (my son's 13th birthday), it was a great way to make it memorable. The web site does say "smart casual" but you can pretty much wear whatever you want for the prices they are charging! ![]() ![]() Oh, and I wore khakis and a modest cabanana shirt, and was probably better dressed than most of the other folks we saw eating in there. That one aspect does separate it from other places, but to be honest it is something most should do once in their lives then scratch it off their bucket list. It's nice how the restaurant turns while you eat. The food was far from impressive for that price.īut as people say, you go there for the view and that was impressive. Overall, the four entrees, one margarita and a few sodas came to a little over $140, which was high. They too weren't bad, but far from fresh. My wife didn't finish her shrimp, so I knocked those off for her. I tried the beef medallions and they were cooked in a sweet teriyaki sauce that wasn't too bad. My son's filet was good but not great, and you'd get a better steak in many other places like the Saltgrass Steak House for half the price. I don't usually order seafood as it's rarely as fresh as when I lived close to the ocean, and my flounder with crab stuffing was pretty dry. The portions were "gourmet size" (read: small) and not overly impressive especially considering the price. All came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and that's about it. I had the stuffed flounder, my wife the coconut shrimp, my son the filet mignon and my mother the beef medallions. Our food came out fairly quick, maybe 10-15 minutes after we ordered. Guided Tower of the Americas tours start around USD 89.99 per person. We passed, because we had planned to have some ice cream cake for my son when we got home. Currently, an entrance ticket to Tower of the Americas costs USD 89.99. Then, when she took our order, she wanted to know if we were going to have dessert because "it takes a while to prepare them." Our waitress was a bit pretentious, especially since no one other than my mother wanted alcoholic drinks (she got a margarita) or appetizers. But since we had a comfortable booth, and a good view, I decided to let it slide. We were immediately seated in what was a near-empty restaurant, and not in a window table despite the fact that there were at least a dozen available that I could see. We got to the restaurant and there was a large staff standing around when we arrived. Some guy wanted to take our photograph but we declined, we're not tourists and don't fall for that crap. We got there about a half hour before our reservation and took the elevator up. I was also told they would print up a special menu with my son's name on it wishing him a happy birthday. After moving our reservations up an hour, I was pretty much guaranteed it was taken care of.
